Project Summary
PHARMASKIN aims to treat common skin disorders, such as dandruff, by innovative strategies. The treatments are based on new indications of well-established drugs or cosmetics and pharmacological synergistic compositions. The company develops
two antidandruff shampoo products, cosmetic and medicated, with different formulations.
The first target to be approached was dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp, SD), a common chronic skin disease. The yearly market is evaluated at US$ 500 in the USA only. No product on the market has achieved supremacy, due to SD chronic
nature and high recurrence rate. A synergistic drug approach was tested and patented after successful pilot studies, of both cosmetical and medicated formulations. The company developed and completed the formulation of a cosmetic antidandruff shampoo and starts human testing.
