Imperative Networks

Mission
Imperative is developing integrated silicon solutions for the growing fibre channel Storage Area Network (SAN) switching industry, blade servers and back end storage solutions. These solutions enable existing and new entrant SAN switch vendors to obtain higher performances and lower cost.

Market Opportunity
Imperative's core-technology is highly applicable for SAN switch vendors and LAN manufactures. The products will enable dramatic cost reductions, which will grant the vendors access to emerging storage market. The main potential market segments of the technology are:

  • Fiber channel vendors
  • Lan Switch vendors
  • Storage suppliers
Products Description
Imperative enhances SAN intelligence and promotes greater interoperability within SAN environments. The chip (SOC 1600) includes new capabilities that help the switch vendors offer their customers as following: an optimized utilization of human and equipment resources, improved data accessibility, increased SAN security, and simplified overall management of the SAN environment.

The main features of SOC 1600 are :
  • 16 FC (Fibre Channel) ports per chip (1 ,2 or 4 Gbps).
  • Full fabric support
  • Non-blocking cascading of the basic chip to higher port count (16,32,64, 128 etc).

These features enable vendors to create SAN systems that incorporate:
  • Redundant architecture (no single point of failure), quality of services, high security level and FC services.
  • SAN sub-netting for interconnecting multiple independent Imperative fabrics.

The chip just passed early beta tests at the lab facilities of some of the biggest storage vendors, where many of them are taking a close look at the company's product and value proposition.
