Stellaris Networks
Mission
Stellaris Networks is dedicated to becoming the leading provider of high-capacity Wireless LANs (WLAN) solutions for enterprise customers. Stellaris is developing a complete product solution to cost effectively construct high-capacity WLAN based on 802.11 industry standards.
Market Opportunity
W LAN is proving to be one of the great success stories in telecommunications today. It is becoming a mainstream solution for both the consumer and enterprise's market place. As penetration rates and usage levels are growing, enterprises begin to realize the limits of the current technology available to them - mainly poor throughput and complex deployment of the infrastructure (Access Points). This is where Stellaris Networks comes in and plans to provide - through its unique technology - superior WLAN infrastructure infrastructures for enterprise, which overcomes the current technology limitation.
Products Description
Wireless LAN systems based on Stellaris Networks technology are composed of one or more central Wireless Switches (AirSwitch), which are typically installed in a central communication closet and multiple wireless Access Points (AirLink), freely distributed over the desired service area. Networks employing Stellaris Networks' technology can achieve more than ten times greater capacity, robust Voice-over-LAN (VoWLAN) operation and much lower TCO compared to existing solutions. Stellaris Networks' technology is especially unique in its ability to substantially increase WLAN capacity and provide true QoS capabilities, while preserving 802.11a/b/g compatibility, i.e. without requiring the end devices to be replaced.
Management Team
Moshe Becker Founder & CEO: Prior to founding Stellaris Networks, Moshe was the Founder and CEO of WebTrac - a VC-backed telecom Software Company in the market for mobile location-based services middleware. Before WebTrac, Moshe had spent 5 years as a design engineer in Raphael and later 8 years in the US, in product management and business-oriented positions in the IT industry, working with companies such as SUN Microsystems and Inmarsat. Moshe has an Executive MBA degree from the Peter Drucker School of Management and a BSEE from Tel-Aviv University.
Motti Mushkin Founder & CTO: An expert in designing PHY&MAC layers communications algorithms, with 25 years of experience in communications systems, including numerous patents. Prior to founding Stellaris, Motti was VP Advanced Technologies for Itran Communication (Power Line Communications), as well as participating in numerous standardization activities (ETSI, PLCforum and others). Before joining Itran, Motti was Chief scientist for BreezCOM and prior to that held Chief Scientist positions with TranSKY (dealing with 3G physical layer development), Teledata (dealing with WLL systems) and Elisra (as a Senior System and Software Engineer, responsible for ELINT systems). Motti holds 5 patents and has a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering in the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
Dani Raphaeli Founder & Chief Scientist: Dani is an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering in the Tel-Aviv University, specializing in PHY&MAC layers for wireless communications. In parallel to his academic career, he has gained a lot of experience as an engineer in the Ministry of Defense (until 1991), as Communication Systems specialist and analyst at NASA (until 1994) and as a consultant for various companies throughout the years (including Itran). He earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Ben-Gurion University, Beer Sheva, Israel, Cum Laude, in 1986, at the age of 18 and his Ph.D. degree from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech) in 1994.
